How do cats clean their skin?

When cats clean themselves, aren%26#039;t they only reaching their fur, not the skin beneath? If humans didn%26#039;t clean their skin it would get mangy and gross. What%26#039;s the difference?|||yes that is true, that cats clean themselves by licking their fur. while humans do clean their skin.

cats fur is arrange that their skin will not get dirty or soaked wet, unlike humans, even if your covered with tons of hair, surely your skin will get dirty %26amp; dipped wet.

thats why we humans need to take a bath everyday, while cats just need a lick to clean %26amp; their favorite to lick is their...

finger, why? because it%26#039;s finger licking good(%26quot;,) LOL|||No difference. It is just like shampooing your hair. Sure there is hair getting cleaned, but you should be reaching your scalp buy messaging it in. Same with cats: when they lick, they get past the fur.|||part of the reason their tounges are so rough is so they are able to reach the skin through the fur when licking.|||Just why u bathe (hopefully) to keep clean.|||everyone how said by licking themselves is incorrect. you need to bath cats occasionly to get their skin clean. Trust me I have bathed a cat. you may want to wear leather gloves.|||they lick it|||the cats tongue have hook looking things that are facing inward these hook things help get there skin clean|||They clean them by licking them.|||its a cat who cares|||The cat licking its hair cleans not only the hair but helps keep the skin clean too. What they can%26#039;t get you should get by giving your cat periodic baths. That sounds like a horrible prospect but it is not as bad as it sounds.

We put our cat in the tub and use a sprayer. We are careful not to spray him in the face and we use no more tears cat shampoo. We got him use to bathing by putting him in the kitchen sink and spraying his feet a few times so he would not be afraid of the spray. Now he trusts us not to hurt him. We use a low sudsing shampoo so rinsing does not take too long. After we take him out I wrap him in a towel and cuddle him close to me for about 20 nminutes. That shows him love, lets him know it is not a punishment and it helps get the water out of him. It is a nice experience for both of us.

Good luck to you and your cat.
